Appendix
The sample petition we looked at in another chapter of this book was taken from the legal form below written by Wayne Mathis, a Christian attorney.
Wayne told me that the rules of civil procedure in the state where he practices law are based on the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure. He said:
"... these rules pattern their objective after God's rules. At the time these rules were drawn, it was the intent of the rule makers to impose standards which followed God's standards in the application of the business of the judiciary. It was assumed that men were aware of God's method of fairness in the dispensation of justice.
"It is ironic that such changes have taken place in our society today that I am now using these same rules in an effort to get a comprehension of God's method of fairness. The rules have not changed. We are just looking at them from the other side."
In other words, the rules of civil procedure in our country were written based on God's standards! And just as the people petition the courts of justice, we can petition the courts of heaven.
You may want to refer to Wayne's more technical petition as an example when you are writing your own.
